In March 2009, Integra II was launched. The project continues to build on the work achieved in the 3-year Integra project, which lasted from 2005 until 2008. Integra was found to be so valuable by the EU that the project has been approved for another 3 years of financing. NOTAM in turn is being supported by Arts Council Norway for participating in the Integra II project.

Project goal

The main goal of the Integra project is to create a new piece of software for composing and performing music with live electronics. The environment will be tested in real life thanks to substantial new commissions and an effort to modernise existing repertoire that currently uses obsolete technology. Furthermore, the project is an exciting opportunity to bring together research centres and new music ensembles from across Europe.

Status

  • Commisioned works: It has been decided that NOTAM will be working with Bit 20 Ensemble and the composer Iris ter Schiphorst.
  • Software development: Work is in progress with Birmingham Conservatoire, NOTAM and Institute of Electronic Music and Acoustics participating. NOTAM's task will be to expand the system to enhance usability for composers. Kjetil Matheussen is responsible for NOTAM's part of the programming.Among other things, he is currently working on issues related to the interface and signal processing.
  • Concert productions: From NOTAM's side, Asbjørn Blokkum Flø and Cato Langnes is in charge supporting composers in concert productions. Flø will be in Paris from September 28 until October 2 to work with the electronics for Roger Reynolds' work traces, which will be performed by Ensemble Court-circuit.
  • Migration of works: Flø is in charge of the migration of works on behalf of NOTAM. So far, this work has not been started. He migrated several work in the project's previous incarnation, Integra.
  • Additionally, NOTAM's Jøran Rudi is involved in the administrative planning of the project.
